City Operations & Maintenance Division Moves to New Corp Yard

Post Date:09/15/2017 10:17 AM

Many cities have a corporation yard, often called a "corp yard," and the City of Rancho Cordova now has one too. At the January 17, 2017 City Council meeting, Council members approved a resolution authorizing the Public Works Department to purchase the property located at 3303 Luyung Drive, including a 5,950 square foot building on a one acre lot, to house the City of Rancho Cordova Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Division’s staff, equipment, and vehicles.

A division of the City’s Public Works Department, the O&M Division oversees the operation and maintenance of the City’s infrastructure, including streets, signs, trees, stormwater, sound walls, and Public Works vehicle fleet. The City outgrew the shared storage space adjacent to the City’s Neighborhood Services Division, located on Gold Tailings Court, and moved the O&M Division from City Hall to the new Corp Yard over the past few months.

Supplies, such as street light poles and fixtures, fencing, and tools, are now stored at the Corp Yard. The City of Rancho Cordova expects the new Corp Yard will improve control of inventory and increase efficiency for addressing critical issues.

“The new corporation yard allows us to stock more materials. This means that instead of waiting for materials to be delivered, we are able to access them immediately to provide faster response times for repairs to City infrastructure,” said Albert Stricker, Public Works Director for the City of Rancho Cordova.
