Cities and Counties who receive annual funding from HUD prepare five year Consolidated Plans to plan how to spend the funds. The plan assesses housing needs, social services needs, and population demographics to help identify where HUD funding can do the most good. Cities and Counties report on accomplishments annually toward the goals set in the Consolidated Plan.

As part of the public outreach component of the five year Consolidated Plan, the Community Development Department hosted a second public meeting on February 10th at the Cordova Meadows Elementary School.

Staff presented an overview of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) basics including, a snapshot of the FY 2015-2016 CDBG budget allocation, how the funding is allocated, and an evaluation of deliverables from FY 2014-2015 CDBG grant cycle. The purpose of the public meetings are to help answer questions and gather feedback about priorities for the CDBG program. Staff's discussion on CDBG basics led to the purpose of the Consolidated Plan and how the proposed NRSA would help efficiently use and leverage HUD funds. The meeting was well attended, and included several discussion points on how to positively improve and sustain the neighborhood and community as a whole.
