Aaron Busch is the Community Development Director for the City of Rancho Cordova. The position was created to provide innovative development, collaboration on growing strong neighborhoods, and a variety of housing options within the City.
Busch has taken on planning, zoning, and housing responsibilities. In the past, a contract planning director oversaw planning services for the City. Busch will also work closely with the City’s Public Works and Economic Development Departments and with Building and Safety and Neighborhood Services Divisions to coordinate and facilitate efficient and responsive services to residents.
He comes to Rancho Cordova from Yuba City where he was Director of Community Development since 2006. Before that, he was Project Processing Manager and Associate Planner for the City of Roseville. Busch related that one of his favorite achievements at Yuba City was the creation of an on-going neighborhood revitalization strategy that was aimed at assisting established neighborhoods to redevelop and thrive within the community. “For the past five years, one of the main highlights of that strategy was an annual Helping Hands event that utilized federal funds and 150+ volunteers to clean up one to two city blocks,” he said.
Busch has a B.A. degree in Geography, Urban Planning and minor in Public Administration from California State University, Fresno. He and his wife, Monicqua, have two children: Sarah who is studying to be a wildlife veterinarian and Ryan who is a high school senior.
“I look forward to streamlining the development process and to helping create even stronger neighborhoods through key partnerships within and outside of the organization,” Busch said. “Just one week into the job, I can already tell that Rancho Cordova has a lot going on with making this a great community.”
