Curt Haven


Director of Economic Development & Neighborhood Services

Curt Haven has the distinction of being the first employee hired by the City. After the November 2002 cityhood election, Curt was staff liaison to the newly-elected City Council. Then on July 1, 2003, the first day of incorporation, he officially became the first City of Rancho Cordova employee.

As Director of Economic Development and Neighborhood Services, Curt plans economic strategies, oversees redevelopment, and is the liaison to neighborhood associations. Other major responsibilities are to attract new businesses as well as to retain and expand current companies and commercial venues.

Curt was active in many community activities before becoming a City employee. He chaired the City’s Incorporation Committee plus he did fundraising, provided informational outreach, worked with consultants, and co-chaired the ballot measure. He was CEO of the Rancho Cordova Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the Cordova Recreation and Park District Board of Directors for five years. Other community involvements included Rotary Club, Cordova High School, Boy and Girl Scouts, and other youth groups. He is the recipient of many civic awards from the State Legislature and community groups.

Professionally, Curt is a member of California Economic Development, Metro and Rancho Cordova Chambers of Commerce, Sacramento Area Commerce and Trade Organization, California Redevelopment Association, International City Managers Association, and the Cordova Community Council.

Curt studied criminal justice at California State University, Sacramento. Before working at the City, Curt was self-employed in the auto parts business for 20 years.
