Robert J. McGarvey, Air Force Veteran and a member of the Rancho Cordova City Council, would like to honor and acknowledge American Veterans by maintaining a list of Rancho Cordovan's who served in the military.
The purpose of this list is for Mr. McGarvey, community groups and public agencies to acknowledge Rancho Cordova veterans, just as veterans are acknowledged in other cities. Mr. McGarvey is also interested in proposing a plaque, monument or veterans' wall that would pay tribute to those who paid the ultimate price while protecting our freedoms and beliefs.
According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, of the 25 million veterans currently alive, nearly three of four served during a war or an official period of hostility. About a quarter of the nation's population -- approximately 70 million people - are potentially eligible for VA benefits and services because they are veterans, family members or survivors of veterans.
If you or a family member or friend is a veteran currently or formerly living in Rancho Cordova, we want to hear from you. Veterans, their families, or survivors are asked to fill out the form below. Hard copies are available at Rancho Cordova City Hall, or can be obtained by calling (916) 851-8700.
If you have any questions or comments, please contact City Councilman Robert J. McGarvey, Air Force Veteran, at (916) 851-8815 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
