The Social Justice Sewing Academy (SJSA) invites local quilters and sewing enthusiasts from the greater Sacramento area to participate in a special Quilt Building Workshop! This hands-on event will bring together community members to help complete meaningful quilt projects that amplify youth voices and advocate for social change through the power of art.
We’re looking for volunteer quilters to assist with assembling quilt tops by adding sashing to pre-made blocks created by SJSA youth "artivists" from across the country. These collaborative quilts often highlight themes of equity, justice, and belonging—and your craftsmanship helps bring their messages to life.
What to Bring:
• Your sewing machine
• Rulers and rotary cutter
What’s Provided:
• All fabrics and materials
• Step-by-step instruction and guidance
• A warm, creative, and purpose-driven community experience
Whether you’re a seasoned quilter or a newcomer inspired to contribute to a cause, this is a wonderful opportunity to connect creativity with activism.
