Celebrating Rancho Cordova’s 2024 Community Pride Scholarship Winners

Post Date:05/22/2024 8:26 AM

Each year, City of Rancho Cordova employees raise funds for the city’s Community Pride Scholarship program to support graduating seniors in our community as they move onto their next chapter. We are proud to announce this year’s winners, Ariella Taitague and Wafa Suhir.

Ariella is a graduating senior at Cordova High School and participates in various clubs and activities, including Link Crew and Drama programs. In addition, Ariella has volunteered throughout the community at clean-up events and for the Cats About Town Society.

“From a young age, I have always been taught to help others. Whether doing a favor for someone, volunteering, or helping others in need of help or support, helping others and my community has always been who I am,” said Ariella.

After graduation, Ariella plans to study art history and aspires to work in museums and galleries across the globe.

Wafa, a Rancho Cordova resident and graduating senior at Folsom High School, has over 200 hours of community service in Key Club and has volunteered at numerous Rancho Cordova events including the Great American Triathlon, the California Capital Airshow and more. In addition to her volunteer hours, Wafa works as an intern for the Rancho Cordova Chamber of Commerce.

“As I embark on the next chapter of my academic and professional journey at UC Riverside, I carry with me the lessons and values instilled in me by my experiences in Rancho Cordova,” said Wafa. “I am eager to continue making a difference in the world of business while remaining grounded in my roots and dedicated to serving the community that has nurtured and supported me throughout my formative years.”

“Ariella and Wafa are exemplary students in the classroom and in the community. On behalf of the City of Rancho Cordova, congratulations,” said Andrea Malins, who manages the Community Pride Scholarship.
