From new infrastructure to resurfaced roadways, these Public Works projects are transforming our city, one improvement at a time. Here’s the latest.

Baroque Traffic Calming Project

Project enhancements for this project will include a surface treatment and striping, enhanced crosswalks, narrowed lanes and bike lane improvements along the entire corridor. There will also be a mini roundabout installed at the intersection of Kilgore Road and Baroque Drive.

Tomorrow, Thursday, July 31, and Friday, August 1, the slurry surface treatment installation will be performed. In support of that effort, there will be temporary rolling closures along Baroque Drive. If you are traveling in the area, please plan for additional drive time and reduce speeds.

This project is scheduled to be complete later this summer.

Streetlight and Traffic Calming Project

With grant funding from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), the city is currently installing 44 solar-powered streetlights on W. La Loma Drive, La Loma Drive and Dawes Street, marking the city’s first major solar streetlight installation.

The project will also include traffic calming improvements including bulb-outs, speed lumps, bike lanes, striping, and rectangular rapid flashing beacons with the installation of a new mid-block crossing (allowing pedestrians to safely cross the street in the middle of a block). These traffic calming measures will be installed along W. La Loma Drive, Dawes Street, and Mills Tower Drive. 

The project is anticipated to be complete in Summer 2025.
