In the quiet hours of the night, strange cries coming from a Rancho Cordova backyard woke several neighbors. The noises didn’t stop by morning, so the residents went to investigate. To their surprise, they found a juvenile raccoon with its leg stuck in a picket fence! They decided it was time to call Animal Services. Animal Control Officers responded to the scene and, with some creative thinking, were able to free the injured animal. This little guy is now recovering from his injury at a licensed wildlife rehabilitation center and will get a second chance at life—thanks to the compassion of our residents and the quick action of our dedicated Animal Services team!
