Business and Multifamily Recycling Services

California State Law

The State of California has implemented recycling laws for businesses (AB 341) and AB 1826) that require all businesses that generate certain amounts of solid waste per week to divert recyclable and organic recyclable materials. The City is here to provide assistance with these programs.

To abide by these laws, certain businesses must recycle cardboard, organics (food waste and green waste), office paper, and beverage containers. This page will help you to determine whether or not your business is required to comply with these laws, and will provide you with assistance if you are required to do so.

Rancho Cordova Municipal Code

In addition to California State Law, Rancho Cordova Municipal Code Chapter 6.21 requires the following properties subscribe to a recyclable material and organic recyclable material collection services:

  • Businesses
  • Multifamily residential properties
  • Any business or multifamily residential dwelling that meets the mandatory threshold and/or requirements to divert designated recyclable and/or organic recyclable materials
