How You Can Help Enhance Our Urban Forest

The city’s Urban Forest team is comprised of city staff, a city Arborist, and various community partners that provide an array of benefits and services to its community. You can help enhance Rancho Cordova’s urban forest by:

• Requesting free trees for your residence, businesses and organizations
• Apply for free stump removal for your front yard (residences only)
• Volunteer or host a community tree-planting or tree-pruning event

Sign Up for Free Trees

Sign up for free trees by submitting a request with the Sacramento Tree Foundation. Residents, businesses and organizations may receive up to ten free trees to enhance their property. 

Stump Removal Program

Save money and beautify your yard with the city's Stump Removal Service! We can provide a professional arborist crew to remove and grind your stump, then replace it with a free shade tree. We can provide this service every 2-3 months and have limited space.

Please note:

• Stumps must be located in the front yard of a private residential property, at least 4” in diameter and 18” away from a fence or structure.
• Stumps must also be at least one year old (stumps from newly removed trees should be removed by the tree contractor who is removing the tree).
• The new tree may not be planted the same day the stump is removed, but it will be planted shortly after.
• This service is for stump removal only; the city does not remove trees.
