Great Plates Meal Delivery

Great Plates is a new program created by Governor Newsom that provides seniors and those vulnerable to COVID-19 with three free nutritious meals delivered daily. This new program is a great way to get healthy food, and it is currently operating through June 1, 2020. 

We have had a tremendous response to this program and are now at capacity. If you are a senior and need meal delivery, please contact Meals on Wheels at 916.444.9533.

Blessings in a Backpack

While schools are closed, Blessings in a Backpack will distribute weekend food packs from the St. John Vianney parking lot on Fridays from 9:30 AM to 1:20 PM.  Please stay in your car and drive-thru.

A mobile app to help students and families find meals during coronavirus-related emergency school closures.  It's available for download through iOS, Android, or Microsoft devices.

California Department of Social Services Pandemic EBT

Due to coronavirus, children who are eligible for free or reduced-price meals at school will get extra food benefits. These food benefits are called Pandemic EBT or P-EBT benefits. P-EBT benefits help families in California buy food when schools are closed because of the coronavirus emergency.

Elk Grove Unified School District

EGUSD has expanded drive-up meal service to Rancho Cordova's Robert J. McGarvey Elementary School. The meals provided each day will include lunch for that day and breakfast for the following day. Meals are not for consumption on site and children should return to their residence once the meals are received.

Khalsa Aid Coronavirus Emergency Outreach

Food pantry which mostly carries breads, grains, dairy and vegetables.  The target audience under the emergency outreach program includes senior citizens and immuno-compromised/vulnerable individuals.  The organization can provide groceries from their pantry and typically responds in 24 hours.  They will do their best to fulfill the requests but this is subject to availability.  They cannot guarantee deliveries.  They accept donations, but payment is not a requirement.  To sign up to request groceries please fill out the form at tinyurl.com/KA-Covid19.

Meals on Wheels (Seniors, 60+)

As of May 21, this program is no longer accepting new applicants.  

Meals on Wheels by ACC is a non-profit organization serving Sacramento County seniors 60 years of age and better. Meals on Wheels helps keep seniors in their homes and communities by providing nutritious meals, safety net services, social contact, community resource information, and much more.

Sacramento City Unified School District

Free meals Monday - Thursday, 10 AM - 12:30 PM at 31 school sites

Beginning on Monday, April 20, we are making the following changes:

  • Reducing meal service days from five (5) to four (4) days, to Monday through Thursday (two meals provided on Thursdays).
  • Changing meal times to 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • Students can pick up their breakfast and lunch, and now, a snack, during the morning pick-up hours. We will no longer offer an evening pick-up time.
  • To ensure equity and access for all students in need of a meal, we are implementing a limit of meals to eight children per vehicle.

At the site, please remain in your vehicle until you are directed by district staff. Please call Nutrition Services at (916) 395-5600 for more information. There is new information every day. For this reason, please check our website for possible changes in times next week.

United Sikhs Emergency Response Team of Northern California

An emergency hotline for urgent assistance has been established to respond to needs in Northern California.  This includes grocery aid and delivery.  They can provide cooked meals as well as assist with grocery deliveries.  For delivery services call their hotline 1.855.878.6333.
