In response to the public health crisis, Access from AT&T is temporarily: 

  • Offering two months of free service to new customers who order Access by May 23, 2020. $5/mo. or $10/mo. thereafter, depending on your speed.
  • Expanding eligibility based on income and to households participating in National School Lunch Program/Head Start
  • Waiving all home internet data overage fees

Charter Communications

Beginning Monday, March 16, 2020 Charter commits to the following for 60 days:

  • Charter will offer free Spectrum broadband and Wi-Fi access to households with K-12 and/or college students who do not already have a Spectrum broadband subscription and at any service level up to 100 Mbps. To enroll call 1-844-488-8395. Installation fees will be waived for new student households.
  • Charter will continue to offer Spectrum Internet Assist, high speed broadband program to eligible low-income households delivering speeds of 30 Mbps.
  • Charter will open its Wi-Fi hotspots across their footprint for public use.
  • Spectrum does not have data caps

Comcast

Until further notice, all Xfinity WIFI Public Hotspots are now open to everyone on the “xfinitywifi” SSID. You can also download the Xfinity WiFi app to get enhanced security features at thousands of hotspots nationwide and to get better WiFi connections. Public hotspots can be found in small/medium businesses and outdoors in commercial areas. Non-Xfinity subscribers need to accept Terms and Conditions to access the network and repeat when requested to continue to receive free unlimited access. Sacramento Regional Transit WiFi Bus

Sac RT has launched a new program that will bring free wireless super hotspots to communities in the Sacramento region by bus.  RT's goal is to promote opportunities for distance learning, tele-work and tele-health. The WiFi bus will first visit Rancho Cordova on Friday, May 8th from 3 - 6:30 PM at the Rancho Cordova Library located at 9845 Folsom Blvd. Go here for this weeks schedule and to the WiFi Bus website for more information.

Sprint

Sprint has joined the Keep Americans Connected Pledge and is opening up their network to their customers and:

  • Won’t terminate service if customers are unable to pay due to coronavirus issues
  • Waive late fees caused by economic disturbances related to the coronavirus pandemic
  • Customers with international long-distance plans will get complimentary international calling rates from the U.S. to countries defined by the CDC as Level 3
  • Customers with metered data plans will have unlimited data per month for 60 days at no extra cost
  • Customers will get an extra 20GB of mobile hotspot data per month for 60 days
  • Coming soon: Customers with mobile hotspot-capable handsets without a hotspot will get 20GB per month for 60 days at no extra cost

Verizon is offering some discounts and fee waivers to customers through June 30.  This includes: 

  • The company will not terminate service to any residential or small business customers because of their inability to pay bills due to disruptions caused by the coronavirus
  • Waiving late fees for those impacted by COVID-19
  • Tripling data allowance for Verizon Innovative Learning schools
